Hi. I am Stacy,

the founder of scout & ace photography.

I am a portrait & lifestyle photographer based in southern Minnesota.

I have a deep passion for capturing real moments and connections with my clients. I love to photograph families, children and animals.

Being a photographer is my full time job, but when I am not working I love to browse antique shops and spend time camping with my family.

I am always up for an adventure, and love to travel.

As a photographer who does both lifestyle and studio work, I feel like I have the best of both worlds. Each session allows me to really push myself as an artist, and I love that!

A lifestyle session is fast paced for me, I am constantly on my toes and need to know how to work in many different lighting situations. These sessions are near and dear to my heart, because this is how I started out as a photographer.  Lifestyle sessions take place at my clients' own home or at a location that has meaning to them.   I like to find an activity for us to do, something that your family enjoys doing together, whether it is going out to dinner at a local restaurant, baking cookies at home, going for a bike ride or cheering on your favorite team at a sporting event.  It can even be something as simple and sweet as tucking your kids in at night or having breakfast together in the morning.  I want these images to tell YOUR story!  These sessions are meant to be a fun experience for you and your family.  No stress okay.  Things don't have to be perfect, in fact even better if they aren't.  I may do a little posing during our session, really just to give you some direction and guide you in order to get "the shot" but mostly I let you interact with each other and do what comes naturally.  The lifestyle sessions are great for families, couples and children, and are a fun twist to a traditional senior session.

My studio is located in a charming old farmhouse that has been lovingly restored. We have full run of the house, and so each room offers a different look or feeling. I am able to do a traditional portrait style session, working with studio lights and backdrops and easily move to another area of the home for a more casual session using the natural light that flows in through the big windows. The studio is conveniently right next to an antique shop, so that means that I am always finding unique pieces to use for our sessions. Outside of the studio is a mature garden with the biggest peonies and hydrangea bushes I have ever seen, many outbuilding with tons of character, full grown apple trees and wide open spaces to take full advantage of those beautiful sunsets!  I enjoy working in the studio because it takes a different set of skills than that of a lifestyle sessions.  I have full control over the lighting and I am able to pause and adjust as we work, but as we are shooting I am continually directing you into each pose, and telling you exactly "what to do with your hands, where to look, how to sit" etc.  The Studio sessions are perfect for family portraits, stylized children's sessions, senior sessions and professional or personal headshots.
